Mouka, a leading name in Nigeria’s sleep industry, marked this year’s Children’s Day by celebrating Nigerian youth and acknowledging the crucial role parents play in fostering a healthy sleep culture essential for children’s physical and cognitive development. Observed annually on 27 May, Children’s Day in Nigeria promotes togetherness, self-awareness, and the protection of children’s rights within society.

In a statement reflecting Mouka’s dedication to child welfare, Mr Femi Fapohunda, Managing Director of Mouka, reinforced the company’s commitment to promoting healthy sleep habits from an early age.

“As we celebrate this year’s Children’s Day under the theme ‘Investing in our future means investing in our children,’ Mouka remains steadfast in its mission to promote healthy sleep, a key factor in academic excellence and overall physical, social, emotional, and mental well-being,” Mr Fapohunda said.

He added,

“We offer a Mouka product tailored for every age group, from infancy to adulthood, to ensure that each Nigerian can enjoy restful sleep and perform at their best. A well-rested child excels in school and is better adjusted socially. Cultivating a healthy sleep culture from childhood into adulthood contributes to a highly productive workforce, thereby building a brighter future for our nation.”

Tolani Tijani, Mouka’s Brand Manager, provided further insights into the company’s specialised range of sleep products designed for children.

“Mouka has developed a variety of products specifically for kids. The Dreamtime mattress, available in crib and regular bed sizes, is ideal for younger children. It is water-resistant, preventing spills from soaking the foam core, and breathable, allowing air circulation to keep children cool and comfortable,” Ms Tijani explained.

She continued,

“For school-aged children, we offer the Comfy mattress, commonly known as the school mattress, which supports weights up to 50kg. For older teens, the Flora mattress is an excellent choice, accommodating weights up to 80kg. As you can see, there is a Mouka mattress for every Nigerian child.”

Medical professionals have echoed the importance of quality sleep for children. The Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy (NSP) has highlighted that good sleep enhances cognitive abilities such as reasoning, problem-solving, abstract thinking, comprehension, and memory. It also plays a vital role in language development. According to research, missing developmental milestones during childhood can have lasting effects into adolescence and adulthood. As such, selecting the right sleep products for children, like those exclusively endorsed by the NSP, such as Mouka’s mattresses, is essential.

The NSP has frequently partnered with Mouka at school fairs, through digital communication, and grassroots initiatives to raise awareness about the critical role of quality sleep in the overall well-being of Nigerian children.

Mouka, a proud member of the Dolidol Group—the market leader in Africa’s sleep industry, headquartered in Morocco—has been a cornerstone of comfort in Nigeria since 1959. As a trusted brand, Mouka continues to enhance the lives of Nigerians by providing quality sleep products designed to meet the needs of all age groups.
